Family Circus always puts me in mind when my children were young and all the worries that came from their sincere love and trust in everyone. In March one of the articles was on never talk to strangers.  Dolly is approached by a man wanting to ask her a question.  But Dolly remembered her mothers heed “never talk to strangers”.  Later a picture showing the police apprehending the man, a child molester.  Dolly remembered what mom told her!  It could have been alright but you can never be sure.

Identity Theft I could not believe it happened to my family twice this year.

How ironic is this?  My brother filed his income tax and was prevented from receiving it because of an old unpaid speeding ticket which belonged to another gentleman by the same first, last name and SS number.  He was able to prove he was working at the time the citation was issued.  His money was issued, the citation was removed with the help of Ombudsman office, IRS, his employer and an understanding judge who wrote a letter to the DOT.

Secondly, my daughter and her husband had important documents removed from their hotel room in Florida; credit card, birth certificates, cruise tickets.  They file a report with the police and were told to go ahead and board the ship.  When they board the ship and gave their names they were rushed off to another part of the ship, there they were given back some of the documents except for their birth certificates.

Here are some tips to stop identity theft:   Order a copy of your credit report, use difficult pass words on credit cards and phone accounts, lock up all personal information, do not give out personal information over the phone, watch your mail, shred unnecessary personal information, lock up your Social Security card and Safeguard computer information._______

Highlights

Ed Paz, Honorary Board Member

I am working for the State of New Mexico, Legislature.  I still work as an

information technology auditor.  I focus on the monies appropriated for

technology for the state agencies, education, judicial, etc.  I help the

legislature understand the value being gained from technology investments.

It is a very rewarding job.  I would like to see my job pay more, but you

know how it is working for the state.  My boss is a dear friend whose son is

the same age as my son Pablo, they are both best friends.

I can't believe Pablo is 16 years old now and a sophomore at Santa Fe High School.  Irena my daughter is a senior at a catholic school here in Santa Fe.  Irena will be graduating in May.  Irena is seriously considering attending college at Univ of Nebraska, Lincoln.

Rex & Maria Rundquist are proud of her daughter Sonja Rundquist Sioux City North High School Senior for her academic achievement. On Thursday, March 18, 2004 Sonja was recognized By Gov. Tom Vilsak and Lt. Sally Pederson for her academic achievement and  was  named State of Iowa Scholar by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission.  Sonja will be honored at the Spring Reception __________________________________________________________________________________

Philosophy of Life

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in
a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--WOW--What a
ride!
