Saturday, February 23^rd: Special meeting, open to the public

         “Addressing Discrimination and Prejudice in Iowa”

                  What: Profiling by law enforcement, harmful misunderstandings about ITINs, Immigration Status, legislative issues

                  Where: DMACC Urban Campus, Bldg. 3

                  When: Saturday, February 23, 2008, 9:00 am to 10:30 am

                  Who: three bilingual presenters from Tuscon, AZ

                  Time will be allowed for questions.

 

          Latinos Unidos Board meeting

                  When: 10:30 am-12 noon

                  What: Amending Latinos Unidos By-Laws to add diversity/anti-racism & immigration.

Saturday, March 15^th

Some Latinos Unidos members will attend a training at the Hola Center on how to solicit an ITIN number through a federal tax web site for Spanish speakers.  This training will be provided by Elia Cardenas.

           The future site and dates for registering for this training are at the United Way Building, 1111 9^th Street, Des Moines: Saturday, 22^nd of March; Saturday, 29^th of March; Saturday, 5^th of April; Saturday, 12^th of April

           Latinos Unidos will be at the United Way building.  Along with helping we will have a booth with Latinos Unidos information from 9 am to 12 pm.

           Latino Resource Fair (LRF)

            St. John’s Basilica Church Basement: Spanish Mass is from 4 pm to 5 pm.

            Set up time only from: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.   Tear down: 6:30 pm.
            The LRF will take place from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

            Information regarding the LRF will be posted in the St. John’s Basilica Bulletin and other media.
